ASUU STRIKE UPDATE: 200 BILLION NAIRA ALREADY DEPOSITED INTO CBN FOR ASUU


The special adviser to the president on public affairs, Dr Doyin Okupe and the executive secretary of the Nigeria university commission NUC, prof Julius Okojie confirmed that 200 billion naira has been made deposited in the CBN account for ASUU
Okupe was a guest on channels television programme "sunrise daily". he said most of the demands of ASUU has been agreed upon during the 13-hour meeting the union had with the president.

Okojie however confirmed that the money has been deposited in CBN. he said the co-ordinating minister of the economy and the minister of finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweala had confirmed this.

 the federal government has also postponed the deadline given to the angry lecturers to resume to December 9th due to ASUU former president's funeral this Saturday that would be holding on the 7th of December
Prof Okojie in his briefing said 
"Government decided to shift the date of resumption so as to allow lecturers attend the funeral rites of Late Prof Iyayi We just received information that the burial rites of Festus Iyayi begins on the December5 and would last till December 7"
On the issue of salary arrears been demanded by lecturers, Prof Okojie said:
“You cannot pay someone who has failed to resume work. You are on strike and you want to be paid. What if some have already left the system? Some of our very bright lecturers may have gotten jobs elsewhere already,” he said
